Overview

The metal cabinet is the sheet-metal enclosure for a heat pump or air conditioning unit, produced to customer specification. The factory works to a tensile strength of up to 450 MPa on the material it uses, and applies powder spraying and electroplating as finishing processes. Welding and cutting are handled in-house as part of the same manufacturing flow.

It is a component sale, not equipment. An OEM or ODM buyer specifies the cabinet against a chassis, a service access requirement and a finish, and the part is produced to that specification. Because the cabinet sets the appearance and structural envelope of the finished unit, it is usually one of the first parts frozen in a new programme.

Freeze the enclosure early. Cabinet dimensions, mounting points and service access constrain the layout of everything inside it, so a late change cascades through the assembly.

State the finish requirement with the enquiry. Powder spraying and electroplating are both offered, and which applies depends on exposure conditions and the appearance specification of the finished unit.
