Overview
Univer PIR is a pre-insulated duct panel: a flame-resistant polyurethane core faced with aluminium foil, compounded in a continuous pressure process, offered as an alternative to traditional galvanised-iron ducting. It is supplied as flat panels in 20, 25 and 30 mm thicknesses and is cut and bonded on site into the shapes the duct run needs.
The family is aimed at commercial ceiling ducts, office central ventilation and industrial ductwork, where a run needs insulation and a finished surface in one product. Selection is by thickness and by the static pressure and support spacing the project requires. Hangers, cut plans and fire-separation details are engineered per project and confirmed with the factory.
Where it is used
- Commercial ceiling ventilation ducts
- Office and retail central ventilation
- Industrial ductwork within the listed temperature range
- Exposed runs where insulation and a finished surface are needed in one layer
Selection & installation notes
- 01
Pick thickness on the insulation the run needs: 20, 25 and 30 mm are the listed options, with thermal conductivity listed at 0.021 W/m·K and a working range of −50°C to 80°C.
- 02
Panels are listed at 3590 / 3500 mm with 60–80 μm aluminium foil, a core density of 45–55 kg/m² as listed, and a fire rating of B1. Confirm the acceptance criteria your authority having jurisdiction applies to duct insulation before designing it in.
- 03
Fabrication is by cutting and adhesive connection, so the tools matter: V-model, 45° and straight reamers, aluminium ruler, manual bending machine and a ducting tool box are available for on-site work.
- 04
Comprehensive strength is listed at 0.2 MPa with 0.5% dimensional stability. Support spacing and hanger design are not covered by those figures — design them to the load and to local code.
Common questions
Can Univer PIR replace galvanised-iron ductwork entirely?
For the duct body, yes — panels are cut and bonded into shape and carry their own insulation. Hangers, access doors, dampers and fire-separation details still have to be engineered for the project and accepted locally.
What thicknesses and panel sizes are available?
20, 25 and 30 mm thick, in panels listed at 3590 / 3500 mm. Confirm the panel size and the cut plan for the model you order on the submittal sheet.
Is it suitable outdoors or at high temperature?
The listed working range is −50°C to 80°C, so it is intended for indoor conditioned and industrial ductwork within that range. Check anything outside it with us before quoting.
