Overview

Inline duct fans move air through a duct run where a grille-mounted fan cannot reach the space. The family covers AC plastic and metal types plus EC super-silent and EC mix versions, in straight-through ducted, and backward-curved or forward-curved fan-with-housing configurations. Configuration is usually driven by the duct route and the mounting position rather than by the motor type.

The EC versions are the ones to specify where noise is the reason for the enquiry, and the housed backward- and forward-curved units suit a plant space where the fan has to be serviceable without pulling the duct apart. Sizing is by airflow at the system static pressure, so the duct layout and the fittings either side of the fan matter as much as the fan itself.

Selection & installation notes

Decide straight-through versus fan-with-housing first. A straight-through unit splices into the duct; backward- and forward-curved housed units need a serviceable mounting position.

Airflow, static pressure, duct connection size, power supply and control are not published at family level — confirm per model on the submittal sheet.

Size against the total system static pressure, including the fittings either side of the fan and the terminal grille or diffuser, not against a free-air airflow figure.

Plan access for cleaning. On exhaust duty the impeller and housing collect dust, and a fan boxed in behind plasterboard does not get serviced.

Common questions

What is the difference between the AC and EC versions?

AC versions run on line voltage; EC versions use electronically commutated motors, which is why the super-silent and mix versions are on the EC side. Airflow, power supply and control options differ by model, so ask for the submittal sheet.

Can I get a fan to fit an existing duct size?

Duct connection sizes are not published at family level yet. Send the duct size and the airflow you need at your static pressure and the factory will confirm which model and configuration fits.

Which configuration do I need?

Straight-through units duct in line where the run is continuous. Backward-curved and forward-curved fan-with-housing units are used where the fan needs a housing and a serviceable mounting position.
