Overview

AspireVent heat and energy recovery ventilators bring outdoor air into a house without throwing away the heat already in the exhaust air. The line covers 100 CFM and 150 CFM units with side or top ports, a 3-speed ECM motor in a sealed housing with automatic reset thermal protection, and a heat recovery core that is washable in soapy water.

Units can be wall-mounted or suspended and ship with an installation kit, a standard controller, the heat exchange core and a filter; a timer is optional. In a system the ventilator pairs with a furnace or air handler and is selected on the ventilation rate the home needs rather than on nominal CFM.

Where it is used

  • Whole-house ventilation in new, tightly built housing
  • Retrofit ventilation where a ducted heating system already exists
  • Bathroom, kitchen and laundry exhaust make-up in a balanced system
  • Replacement of an existing ventilator where the duct layout and port positions must be reused

Selection & installation notes

  1. 01

Choose the frame and the port layout first — 100 CFM or 150 CFM, side ports or top ports. The port choice decides whether an existing duct run can be reused, and it is the hardest decision to reverse.

  2. 02

Catalogue airflow is quoted at 0.4 in. w.g — 136 CFM and 152 CFM — with highest SRE of 77% and 77.4% for the two frames. Duct the unit to keep the operating point near that static pressure.

  3. 03

Auto-balancing removes flow keys from commissioning, but verify the delivered airflow against the design rate and check the core and filter are seated after the first weeks.

  4. 04

The core is washable in soapy water without loss of effectiveness. Cores, filters and the optional timer are orderable as service parts, and warranty is listed as 5 years on the motor and 2 years on the whole unit.

Common questions

Is this an ERV or an HRV?

The series covers both, in the same frames and port layouts. The core decides whether moisture is transferred as well as heat, so confirm the core supplied with the specific model on the submittal sheet.

Do I need flow keys or a balancing chart?

No. This family balances automatically without flow keys, so commissioning does not need a pitot tube. Verify the delivered airflow against the design rate afterwards.

How do I size it?

Start from the ventilation rate the home and the applicable code require, then pick the frame and the port layout that fits the duct route. The SRE figures are quoted at 0.4 in. w.g, so duct design affects what the unit delivers.
