Industrial
Ventilation, make-up air and space conditioning for plants, warehouses and workshops, where process exhaust and large air volumes set the design.
What decides the design
- Process exhaust sets the make-up air requirement: welding, paint, dust collection and general exhaust all have to be replaced, and the replacement air frequently has to be tempered before it enters the space.
- Building volumes are large and envelopes are often not airtight, so a pressure balance rather than a temperature setpoint is what keeps the space usable and the doors and air curtains working.
- Contaminants and moisture vary by process, which drives the duct material, the filter class and the corrosion protection specified on the equipment.
- Equipment runs continuously with limited maintenance windows, so access to filters, coils and drives is part of the specification rather than an afterthought.
Recommended system combination
These families are selected together, not individually — the match between them is what makes the system work.
Rooftop Package Units
commercial equipment
Make-up air and DOAS duty, with high-capacity customisation up to 50–100 ton, higher static pressure and higher MERV filtration, plus electric heat or heat pump heating for tempering.
Rooftop package units from 3 to 30 ton, with deep customisation up to 50–100 ton including DOAS and make-up air.
Duct Fans — EC Inline Series
ventilation
Duct-mounted general exhaust and air movement in AC plastic, metal, EC super-silent and EC mix versions, straight-through or housed.
Inline duct fans in AC plastic, metal, EC super-silent and EC mix versions, in straight-through and housed configurations.
Motorized Dampers — MUD Series
ventilation
Make-up air dampers from 4" to 10" balancing process and general exhaust, with flow-control adjustment and spring return to closed.
Round motorized dampers for balancing fresh air against exhaust, with a silent 24 VAC hysteresis motor and spring return to closed.
Univer PIR Pre-Insulated Duct Panel
indoor air quality
Pre-insulated duct construction for supply and make-up air runs, in 20, 25 or 30 mm, with a working range of −50°C to 80°C and a B1 fire rating.
Sandwich duct panel of flame-resistant polyurethane and aluminium foil, offered as an alternative to traditional galvanised-iron ducting.
Diffusers & Grilles
ventilation
Air distribution for high spaces — jet, slot and swirl diffusers to reach occupied level, linear bar and deflection grilles for walls and plenums.
Ceiling and wall air distribution — jet, slot, swirl and round or square ceiling diffusers, grilles and air disc valves.
Selection points
- 01
Start from the total exhaust figure — process, welding and general — and size make-up air to match it; the tempering load then follows from the outdoor design temperature and the volume introduced.
- 02
Confirm the external static pressure the make-up air unit has to develop: long runs, filtration and high duct velocities all consume pressure, and higher static pressure is a rooftop factory option.
- 03
Select the duct material against the process. The pre-insulated PIR panel has a working range of −50°C to 80°C, a B1 fire rating and 20, 25 and 30 mm thicknesses, and is fabricated on site by cutting and adhesive connection.
- 04
Where the space is high and open, use jet or swirl diffusers to deliver air to occupied level; linear bar and deflection grilles suit low walls and plenum returns.
- 05
For sites without stable grid power — remote control rooms, site offices and temporary buildings — hybrid solar-direct units from 9,000 to 36,000 Btu operate in solar-only, solar-plus-grid and solar-plus-battery modes.
- 06
Specify corrosion protection and filtration with the unit: anti-corrosion fins and higher MERV filtration are selected on the rooftop platform, not added in the field.
