Features
- ✓Top-discharge airflow for restricted side-clearance installations
Overview
A top-discharge condensing unit rejects air upward instead of sideways. This family covers 2 to 5 ton units on a 220V / 60Hz / single-phase supply, with a rotary compressor, a DC fan motor, a 24V communication interface and automatic or manual defrost. R-32 and R-410A are both published for the family.
It solves a layout problem rather than a capacity problem: equipment pads where the sides are boxed in by a wall, a fence, a screen or the next unit in a row. It belongs to the same 24V indoor portfolio as the rest of the split range, so cassette, floor-ceiling, ducted, AHU and A-coil units can be quoted around it. No efficiency rating is published at family level.
Where it is used
- Replacement of an aging 24V condensing unit on a pad with restricted side clearance
- New installations where outdoor units sit close together in a row or enclosure
- Wall-adjacent and screened pads where airflow has to go up and away
- Standard 220V single-phase split systems on a 24V thermostat or controller
Selection & installation notes
- 01
Confirm the clearances above and around the unit from the installation manual before the pad is set; a top-discharge cabinet needs an unobstructed upward path.
- 02
Confirm the refrigerant per model — R-32 and R-410A are both published and the two are not interchangeable.
- 03
Defrost is published as automatic or manual; confirm which applies to the model and how a manual cycle is initiated.
- 04
State the indoor unit and the 24V controller at enquiry so the match and control interface are checked together.
- 05
No efficiency rating is published for this family. If one is needed for a specification, request the per-model figure and its test conditions.
Common questions
When should a top-discharge unit be used instead of a side-discharge unit?
Where the sides of the pad are obstructed — units in a row, screened pads, equipment close to a wall. Both families use the same 24V indoor portfolio, so the choice comes down to pad layout.
Is it cooling only or a heat pump?
The published data gives automatic or manual defrost, which is a heating-mode function. Heating capacity and operating range are not published at family level, so confirm them per model.
What compressor and fan motor does it use?
A rotary compressor with a DC fan motor, on all models as published.
Which capacities are available?
The family covers 2 to 5 ton and the catalogue gives 2, 3, 4 and 5 ton sizes. Exact capacities and indoor pairings are confirmed per model.
