VRF Systems

VRF systems for multi-zone commercial projects, with selection and system design support.

Specifications

Detailed dimensional and performance data for this family is being finalised. Ask us for the current submittal sheet.

Overview

VRF (variable refrigerant flow) is a multi-zone commercial architecture in which one outdoor unit serves many indoor units, each with its own temperature control, over a shared refrigerant circuit. ACE FORGE supplies VRF systems with selection and system design support rather than as a catalogue pick-and-order item, which is how this category is normally sold on commercial projects.

It is used where a building needs many independently controlled zones and a ducted central plant is impractical — offices, hotels, clinics, mixed-use floors. It sits at the centre of a project: outdoor units, indoor units, branch joints, controls and ventilation are all designed together. Specification data is not published per family; it is confirmed per model on the submittal sheet.

Where it is used

  • Multi-zone commercial buildings where each room needs its own setpoint
  • Hotel floors with per-room control and central plant constraints
  • Mixed-use buildings combining retail, office and residential zones

Selection & installation notes

  1. 01

Start from the load, not the model. Selection begins with a room-by-room load calculation; the outdoor combination is then sized against the block load and its diversity, not the arithmetic sum.

  2. 02

Indoor unit types and positions are needed early, because piping length, elevation difference and branch-joint placement constrain the layout. On a retrofit, ceiling voids and shaft routes set the limit.

  3. 03

Decide controls and ventilation interfaces at design stage — a centralised controller, per-zone controllers, BMS integration or dedicated ventilation all change the architecture.

  4. 04

No VRF capacity, efficiency or model data is published here. Ask for the submittal sheet for the combination being quoted, covering the outdoor unit and every indoor unit in it.

Common questions

Why are there no capacities or efficiency figures on this page?

Because VRF is quoted per project and the published data for our range is not finalised on this site. Rather than publish figures that may not apply, we confirm capacity and model data per model on the submittal sheet.

What information does the factory need to quote a VRF project?

Room-by-room loads, indoor unit types and quantities, the building layout with piping routes and elevation differences, ambient design conditions, available power supply, and the control or BMS requirement. With those, a combination can be proposed.

Can the system be integrated with a building management system?

BMS integration is a project decision that has to be settled at design stage because it changes the control architecture. Raise the requirement with the factory so it is confirmed against the specific system being quoted.
